Over the course of Karl’s 15-year career in the commercial real estate industry, he’s successfully closed over $9.73B in transactions across various property types. For the past 4 years, he has been primarily responsible for sourcing new opportunities in the New York City and Tri-State area, including all new investment activity and the management of existing assets. His comprehensive experience extends across acquisition, disposition, recapitalization, financing, and asset management with a direct exposure to over 11 million SF of assets. Additionally, Karl oversees ongoing ground-up pre-development projects at 900 King Street, 52 North Broadway, and 777 Washington Boulevard totaling over 1,000 units of various use types.

Karl’s experience as the Head of Acquisitions has encompassed the successful purchase of over $3.4B in asset transactions totaling over 9 million SF. As a result, Karl is highly adept at actively guiding the complete acquisition process, from the initial targeting of a potential asset, throughout the due diligence period, during the capital alignment process, and ultimately through the creation of pre and post-closing business plan contributions. Through his unique background, Karl has developed an expertise in analyzing acquisition scenarios, anticipating potential outcomes, addressing risk proactively, and ultimately creating value.

Karl has directly handled financings and re-financings totaling over $3.6B in total value. Through this experience, he has been involved in the underwriting, negotiating, and structuring of financings spanning across debt fund, balance sheet, life co. and CMBS lenders.

In addition to sourcing and overseeing investment activities, Karl is also selectively involved with property-level asset management. Following the acquisition of Worldwide Plaza in 2009, Karl oversaw a full-scale repositioning that included the creation of a “building within a building” for Nomura Securities. Additionally, Karl recently oversaw the repositioning of 677 Washington Blvd, which transitioned a single-tenant building to a multi-tenant Class A office asset.

Karl is a member of REBNY and the Urban Land Institute. He graduated with a B.A. in Finance from Florida State University, where he was president and captain of the sailing team.
